Jason Lepes is the Head Merchant and second employee at Foodkick by FreshDirect, an on-demand food business serving Brooklyn in Manhattan. Jason and his team are responsible for sourcing, buying, and presenting Foodkick's curated assortment, and for creating an industry-leading customer experience.
Jason is driven by his passion for creating and discovering the next great product – and bringing it to market in a big way. Since 2007, Jason has served in a variety of merchandising and ecommerce roles at Freshdirect, most recently as Merchant for Prepared Foods and Bakery.
Always a lover of food and cooking, Jason was born in France and enjoyed preparing "spaghetti with salt & pepper" -- exactly what it sounds like -- when he was old enough to hold saucepan. He began his professional career in food at age fifteen by apprenticing at Aureole under Executive Chef Gerry Hayden before obtaining a degree in Philosophy from Brown University.
Jason’s love of food is closely followed by his love of traveling and learning new things. When not in the office or perusing aisles, Jason can often be found in his own kitchen, breaking bread with friends and family.
